37 Points - if a student has not had the opportunity to take 7 GCSE subjects, a minimum of a B grade in the subject selected will be required.

In order to progress from AS to A2 students will be required to have achieved their minimum target grade.

 

Vocational Qualifications:

 

CACHE Certificate in Child Care & Education (CCE) Level 2

 

Entry Requirements:             28pts   

Length:                                      1 year

 

Content: You will study physical care and development, working with young children, emotional and social development and preparing for employment with young children. Success on this course will allow progression to the CACHE Diploma in Child Care & Education (DCE) and employment in schools, day nurseries or crèches. Work placement is an integral part of this course.

 

Prospects: Success on this course will allow progression to the CACHE Diploma in Childcare & Education and to employment in schools, day nurseries or crèches.

CACHE Diploma in Child Care & Education (DCE) Level 3

Equivalent to 3 A Levels

 

 Entry Requirements:             33 points

 Length:                                      2 years

2 days placement per week

 

Content: On this course you will study: working with young children, observation and assessment, foundation to caring, the developing child, health & community care, play, curriculum and early learning, working with babies (0-1 years) preparation for employment. Work placement is an integral part of this course.

 

Prospects: Success on this course will allow progression to higher education courses in the field of early years provision, or to employment in schools, day nurseries, crèches or employment as a qualified nursery nurse or. This course carries UCAS tariff points allowing you to progress to higher education.

 

 

 

BTEC FIRST DIPLOMA IN BUSINESS

LEVEL 2

 

Entry Requirments:            28 points

Length:                                    1 Year

 

Content: This is a practical work related course where you will complete assignments based on workplace situations.  You will study a range of modules including on-line business, how to set up a business, customer service and selling skills.  In addition you will have the opportunity to set up a real business to see if you have the potential for becoming an entrepreneur.  An additional certificate could be gained to reflect your real business experience.

 

Prospects:Successful completion of this course will allow progression to advanced level courses.  It will develop skills for employment in areas such as website design, business administration and supervisory roles.

BTEC NATIONAL DIPLOMA IN BUSINESS

LEVEL 3

Equivalent to three A Levels

 

Entry Requirements:             35 points

Length:                                       2 Years

 

Content: This is a practical work related course where you will complete assignments based on workplace situations.  You will study a range of modules including on line business, how to set up a business, customer services, how businesses operate, website design, law, finance and retailing.

 

Prospects:Successful completion of this course will allow progression to higher education courses in the areas of business, management and finance.  It will develop skills for employment in areas such as website design, business and supervisory roles.

BTEC FIRST DIPLOMA IN RETAIL

LEVEL 2

 

Entry Requirements;             28 POINTS

Lenght:                                       1 YEAR

 

Content:This is a practical course aimed at providing you with the essential skills and knowledge to enter a range of occupations in the retail sector.  You will learn about different types of retailing (stores, catalogues, e-commence) how to merchandise and display goods, how to measure and increase sales and profit, ways to actively sell goods and provide good customer care, transport and distribution of goods, consumer protection, stock management and security.  You will choose to focus on fashion, food, electrical goods or financial services.

 

Prospects: Successful completion of this course will allow you to progress to a BTEC National Diploma in Retail or employment in the retail sector.

BTEC NATIONAL DIPLOMA IN RETAIL

LEVEL 3

Equivalent to three A Levels

 

Entry Requirements:            35 points

Length:                               2 Years

 

Content:This is a practical course aimed at providing you with the essential skills and knowledge to enter a range of occupations in the retail sector.  You will learn about developments in retailing, sales forecasting and performance, customer service human resource management, stock management, visual merchandising, movement and storage of goods.  You can also choose from a wide range of options including personal selling, fashion retailing, retail buying, e-commence in retail, customer behaviour and customer protection.

 

Prospects:Successful completion of this course will allow you to progress to higher education or to employment in the retail sector.
