History
Established at the end of 1967, Taiyabah mosque was one of the first in Bolton.
'Taiyabah' from the arabic 'Tayyab' (purity) was the name given by was given by late Hazrat Sheikh Moulana Mohammed Zakariyya. Originally located in Canning Street (pictured below) Moulana Ibrahim Karmadi was appointed as the first Imam at the mosque.

In February 1988 in order to accomodate the growing number of adherents in the community the present building was purchased on Blackburn rd, formally a Congregational Sunday School.
The first Imam in the new masjid was Qari Yakub Nanjee.

Facilities
Prayer
Taiyabah Masjid is open for all of the five daily prayers. During the day and evening the main prayer hall can be used for reading the Qur’an and quiet contemplation. It can accommodate over 500 people. During busy times, such as Friday prayer, Eid prayer and the Taraweeh prayers in Ramadan, an additional hall downstairs is utilised which can double the capacity.
Religious advice & counselling
Muslims turn to the mosque for help and advice in all matters of their day-to-day life. Taiyabah Masjid has trained staff to advise and counsel on the many concerns of the community such as bereavement, cultural challenges and generational issues as well as regular Dawah talks and pro active meeting of brothers in the locality and beyond to improve themselves and others in religious matters.
New Muslims – advice & support
As more people find out about Islam, many decide to convert. This raises challenges for the mosque to help and support new Muslims. Some face difficulties from friends and family who may turn them out! Taiyabah Masjid provides advice, support and friendship.New Muslim Dawah Packs are available for any one interested in Islam.
Marriage solemnisation
Family life is the building block of a successful society, and marriage is an occasion of great joy in the Muslim community. Taiyabah Masjid facilitates the solemnisation of an Islamic contract of marriage. The newly married couple is provided with an official ‘Nikah’ certificate to show they have been married according to Islamic Law.
Funeral Service
Funeral rites for a Muslim must be observed according to religious guidelines. The funeral service arranges for the collection of the deceased from the hospital or mortuary, and makes arrangements for the funeral prayer and the burial.
Education
Islamic Education for children from the ages of 4 upwards are provided including Hifz Classes.Further education is provided with Girls A level Classes in cooperation with Preston College.
